Coming to a park near you: Orangevale SDA's Church Picnic!
Sunday, September 18, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, we'll be at Orangevale Park on the corner of Oak Avenue and Filbert for a day of Picnic, Fellowship, and Fun! Bring your favorite entree and either salad or dessert to share. The church will provide plates, silverware, napkins, drink and cup, but please remember to bring serving utensils for the food you bring. We'll play volleyball, football, frisbee, and/or water balloon toss. Join in the fun while you play or cheer!
Adventurers is starting again! Registration will be held during the kids' soccer game on September 18 at 10:00 on the back school field. The club is open to all children ages 4-9 (and some 3-year-olds), both members and non-members. The cost will be $25.00 plus as-needed fees for uniforms. We meet twice a month on Saturday afternoons to sing, play, learn more about God, and have fun. Drugs, sharks, and household toxins: Steve Arrington of http://drugsbite.com/ and http://www.dreammachinefoundation.com/ will be at Orangevale on Sabbath, September 17, sharing his testimony of going from drug-related felon to Cousteau-society chief diver and beyond. It's a program no one should miss! Arrington has dedicated his life to the mission of sharing God's love with children of all ages. Founder and director of at least two ministries, The Dream Machine Foundation and DrugsBite.com, he is a sought-after speaker and has presented to hundreds of schools, scouting organizations, and other children's groups nationwide and overseas. He will present his testimony during the main church service at 10:40, and will continue the story Saturday evening at 6:00. His fast-paced, science-based multimedia presentations will excite and captivate you, and his heartfelt testimony will bring you closer to Christ. Plan to come to both sessions!
Award-winning gospel musician Steve Darmody will be coming to Orangevale SDA Church Saturday evening, August 6, at 7:00 PM. Steve Darmody is one of Gospel Musics’ finest voices. He has been serving Christ through concert ministry since 1979, averaging some 100 concerts each year with well over 2500 concerts in his lifetime. As the winner of the 1988 Estes Park Christian Music Seminar Vocal compitetions, Steve’s smooth bass-baritone voice has been compared to milk chocolate. His eight CDs feature some of the finest musicians and producers in Christian music, including Nashville’s Lari Goss and Dick Tunney. His music style ranges from inspirational to adult contemporary music and light Christian Jazz. The seminar begins Thursday, August 19 and will meet each Thursday at 6:30 PM in the Better Living Center. The only cost to attend is the purchase of the class kit, which is about $100. Host and moderator Chuck Tache is passionate about the results that this seminar has brought to his family's life, despite being a state employee in the age of Furlough Fridays. Coming soon at Orangevale: an Adventurer Club! Orangevale SDA Church is launching our very own chapter of the nationwide Adventurer Club, a church-sponsored teaching organization for lower elementary children and their families. The Adventurer program strives to develop children as followers of Christ, and to assist parents in their roles as teachers and evangelists of their children. According to Aurora Green, leader of Orangevale's Adventurer Club, the program is designed to develop children's spiritual, physical, mental, and social faculties.
Registration for the club will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on September 19. The club will meet immediately after potluck on the first and third Sabbaths of each month, for approximately one to one and a half hours. The Orangevale club program will include programs for children from 3 1/2 years old through fourth grade. To learn more, contact Aurora through the church office at 916-967-2838.

Tonight at 7:00 is our school’s Spring Concert. They will be featuring all the K-8th grade choirs along with their Performing Bell Choir, All Bands and a special treat, their Family Band. You may want to arrive early as seats fill up fast.
Tomorrow night, Friday, is our Special 50 Year School Celebration starting at 7:00pm. Come see a video of the history of our school and hear former teachers and students share some special memories of their time spent here. Tours of the Family Life Center and School will be conducted afterwards for those who are interested, as well as Sabbath afternoon following the luncheon.
Sabbath Schools begin at 9:00! All adult classes are asked to meet in the sanctuary for a joint study and discussion on the topic “Why Does Jesus Delay His Coming?” The panel will be conducted by former pastors of the Orangevale SDA Church: Larry Richards, Don Lee, Jim Thoresen & Bob Taylor. Topic for discussion is “Why Jesus delays His coming".
The worship service begins at 10:15. Come hear our former pastors share their personal reflections on church life during their years at Orangevale. We will be honoring our Charter Members, hearing great stories and listening to exceptional music.
Following our worship service will be a Special 50 Year Celebration Potluck in the Family Life Center. Members, please plan on bringing an entrée and a dessert or an entrée and a salad. There will be many guests, so please bring extra food. Thanks for helping.
The weekend festivities will conclude Sabbath evening at 6:30 with the Girls Chorus final concert in the Sanctuary.
This weekend is a once-in-a-lifetime event. What a great privilege it is to be a part of God’s family here at Orangevale Church and School.
Kairos Prison Ministry will be having a ministry weekend March 26th - 29th at the Folsom Prison. There are two ways you can take part in this weekend.
1.) Make some homemade cookies! Chocolate chip, peanut butter, or oatmeal are good. Nuts, raisins, and chocolate chips are okay in cookies, but not on top. No sprinkles, sugar or frosting on top.
And no brownies, lemon
squares, or pan bars. Cookies are to be 2-4 inches across and packaged one dozen in a quart sized plastic ziploc bag.
2.) Give a hand - imprint! Do it as a family or school project! Draw an outline of the hand on a piece of colored paper and cut it out. In the palm of the hand (with fingers pointed down), write a short scripture, prayer or supportive thought, and sign your first name only.
There will be a box on the table near the mail boxes to put your gifts and they will be picked up next Sabbath. THANK YOU, AND GOD BLESS YOU!

It’s that time again to let your voice ring out to praise God. Anyone that would like to sing in the Easter Cantata on April 10, please plan on meeting with Don Gryte by the piano, date to follow.
February 20, immediately following the worship service, we will have an all-church fellowship luncheon in the Better Living Center. All members should plan on bringing an entree and either a salad or a dessert. All members and guests are welcome.
The Conference has appointed Pastor Eddie Heinrich to serve on a part-time basis as Associate Pastor of the Orangevale Church. Pastor Heinrich is the full-time Northern California Conference Youth Director; however, he is excited to become involved locally in the activities of the Orangevale Church. Even though Pastor Heinrich has responsibilities throught the conference, his experience and connections to various resources will help to expand the ministry of our local church and schools. Please plan on welcoming the Heinrichs to Orangevale.
The Church Board has asked Paul Kramer to serve as a Local Church Elder effective immediately.
The Alexander family would like to invite church family and friends to a Memorial service for baby Jagger, "our little hero", son of Todd and Lisa: Sabbath, February 20 at 4:00 PM at the Orangevale SDA Church. His life may have been short, but touched the lives of many.
The Church Board is now accepting recommendations from the church for members to serve on the Nominating Committee for selection of church officers from September 2010 to August 2012.
Recommendations will be received in February. Those receiving the most recommendations and willing to serve will do so from mid-March to mid-June. This will allow new officers to plan for their new positions this summer.
Any church member is eligible to serve on this committee, unless they served on the last Nominating Committee in 2008. Those that served in 2008 included Nancy Fandrich, Vernon Reichert, Greg Borrowdale, Andrew Degnan, Nadine Davis, Jay Draeger, Orrie Snyder, and Bob Hablitzel. Pastor Clark is an automatic member.

There are two families in our church who are facing the imminent loss of their homes due to loss of income. Following the example of the early church where the members pooled their funds to help those less fortunate, we at Orangevale would like to demonstrate our brotherly love in a tangible way to these members who are in need.

Our CHIP program that was going to start in April has been postponed. The Rocklin Church will be having one. The Coronary Health Improvement Program registration will be February 15 and 16 at 7:00 PM at the Rocklin Sunset Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church. All all welcome! There will be a special meeting regarding SAA here at our chuch in the Fireside Room on Monday, February 22, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. The school principal, Bettesue Constanzo, and the board chairman, Bobby Pena, will be here for a short presentation, then will open the meeting to field questions and comments about the school, its curriculum, staff, and future direction. All parents of SAA students and any other interested parties are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.
Please keep the family of Roger Dimitru in your prayers. He passed away Tuesday at the gym from a heart attack while working out. Please keep Valerie, his wife, and their children in pryer. Roger, Valerie, and their children had been members at Orangevale years ago before transferring to Roseville.
Please keep the family of Dave Jewett in your prayers. His brother, Mark, passed away suddenly on Sunday.
The Arizona Conference is grieving over the sudden death of their conference attorney, Mark Jewett, who collapsed while playing basketball last Sunday. We offer our deepest condolences to the family and to our sister conference.
